San Ignacio

San Ignacio lies in the foothills of the mountains close to the Guatemalan border next to the Macal River. We stayed at a resort named after and situated within 200 yards of the Cahal Pech ruins: the Cahal Pech Village. The resort sits atop a hill overlooking San Ignacio.  This was our base for traveling to the various  ruins we visited, including Cahal Pech, Tikal, and Xunantunich. We stayed in the cabana shown in some of the following photos.  We were surrounded by beautiful flowers, butterflys, and a wonderful view of San Ignacio.
