These two trench lines were dug by the Army
of Northern Virginia in 1864. Grant will order an attack that he
will say later that he wished he had not done. One yank predicted
his death when he wrote "I was killed at Cold Harbor." They will
find it on his body.

Most of the trees were not there in 1864,
and the yankee lines are about where the treeline becomes solid in the
distance of the first picture. As you can see the lines
went on for miles. The attack was over as fast as if
started. Appox. 15 minutes, with appox. 15,000 casulities on the
yankees side.
