This is the site of Lee's greatest victory. It is now nothing more than the brick foundation of the Hotel/Tavern that marks a Crossroads in north centeral Virginia.  The battle plan was Jackson's, not Lee's, and it worked very well.

This marks the spot where Stonewall Jackson was shot. The victory would cost the South one of its best Generals.  The accidental shooting of Jackson would contribute to the South's losing the war.
Family lore describes a Hile female
that married into the Jackson Family
sometime before 1800.
The family info is that she was "Stonewall's" grandmother, greatgrandmother (or earlier).

After the battle at Pittsburg landing (Shiloh)  the Yankees headed south for this railroad junction at Corinth, Mississippi.  After its' capture Memphis becomes unattainable . . .
and has to be abandoned by the Confederates.  That is why the southern forces attacked here to retake the town.  The 2nd Texas was part of that attack.

This is the redoubt which was attacked
by the 2nd. Texas.  They left a number
of dead behind when the attack failed.
Today the memory of these men is defiled
by PC attitudes which are based on inaccurate perceptions.  This is one reason that I've created this web site.
